40 Hour Famine.

Heyy,

I haven't blogged in a while, and I thought now is as good a time as any to get back into it.

This week I have committed myself to doing the 40 Hour Famine, for this I will be giving up food for 40 hours commencing 8pm Friday 21st of August. If you wish to sponsor myself, others or participate, just ask me for more details.

Why am I doing this?
I am doing this to raise awareness of the global food crisis and the ever increasing number of people living in poverty, currently over 1.4 people live in EXTREME poverty, not to mention countless others who struggle daily.

The Bible commands us to help those less fortunate than ourselves.

"If there is a poor man among you, one of your brothers, in any of the towns of the land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart, nor close your hand to your poor brother; but you shall freely open your hand to him, and generously lend him sufficient for his need in whatever he lacks." Deuteronomy 15:7

I therefor urge you all to consider this issue seriously, wether sponsoring, participating or praying.

Godliness Train #2

Hey, so it has been awhile since my last blog, and thought hey, I better keep going.

I would love to know how everyone is going with there TV watching, so feel free to drop a line, and let me know.

Stop 2 on the Godliness train is Music. Everywhere and everyday we listen to music. Do we truly listen to the lyrics?, or just keep listening because it has a good beat. We as a Christian community need to think to ourselves, is this really what I want to listen to?

Too often these days music is filled with crude language, sex implications and just plain bad messages. We need to take a stand, we need to stop listening to music, which 1) we don't find acceptable and 2) which we don't find is sending an appropriate message.

The other thing we need to consider is, where does the music come from? Is the music illegally downloaded, ripped or burnt. Everytime we download music illegally, we are not only breaking the law, we are ripping off the music industry and the artists who have put tireless hours into the work, so that you may enjoy it.

"Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves." (Romans 13:1-2)

So, I set everyone who reads this a challenge. 1) If you have any illegal music, delete or destroy it. 2) If you listen to inappropriate music, STOP and find more suitable music.

Once again, this may be easier for some then others, but I urge you to take a stance, and encourage your friends to follow suit. I deleted my whole illegal music collection and was left with one CD, if I can do you, you can too.

Let me know how your enjoying your trip on the Godliness train, and if you arn't already onboard, hop on today!

Godliness Train

Hey hey, in collaboration with Dale, we have decided to go full steam ahead on the Godliness train. In the coming weeks there will be some great ideas to try and increase your Godliness.

Stop 1 on the Godliness train is TV. These days TV is filled with sex, crude language and just plain ungodly stuff. We as Christians need to sit down and think, is what we are watching appropriate, and if not, why do we continue to watch.

Now, I am not saying that TV is evil and that we should not watch it, I just think that we should choose what we watch more carefully.

"Be happy, young man, while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth.
Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring
you to judgment." (Ecclesiastes 11:9)

"I made a convenant with my eyes..." (Job 31:1)

If you are stuck for things to do besides TV, you can always read a book e.g. The Bible, or you could go outside and do something active.

This may be easy for some, yet harder for others, so the more that get behind the concept, the easier it will be and we can help each other through it.

So, if you wish to join the Godliness train, just hop onboard today!

Hey Hey!

Hey, Daimian here aka Damo. I have decided to start a blog, not only to fill spare time, but to let others find more about me, and hopefully share some interesting stuff with you guys along the way.
